Background on Amatour, The Amateur Golf Tour

The idea behind AMATOUR is to provide the competitive handicap golfer both Male and Female with their very own tour. If you can verify your handicap YOU CAN PLAY!!
The tour is split into categories, Scratch and Handicap both with order of merits. We aim to have 20 events in 2009 plus the Tour Championship. Players are welcome to play in any event with the best eight finishes counting towards the Order of Merits. At each tournament players will accumulate points which will go towards these Order of Merits. The tour will have four majors where points will count double for which players will have to qualify. (check out the Rules and Regs page) All Tour Events are played over 18 Holes. All players are welcome at any Event. The top 60 from each Order of Merit, will automatically qualify for the end of season Tour Championship...and will slog it out to see who becomes AMATOUR Champions for 2009.

From the competition to the hospitality, the mission of AMATOUR is to provide amateur golfers, a professionally organized format in order to compete at the highest possible level.

The genesis of the AMATOUR was based on the amateur golfers overwhelming desire for a stage in order to truly compete against his/her peers.

Our goal is for participants on the Tour to receive a treatment comparable to what a golfer would get playing on a professional tour.

Registration to the Tour entitles players to compete head-to-head against other players at their same skill level.

Players are put into matches based on a verifiable handicap.

Tour events are generally medal formats and AMATOUR rules apply as do the R&A rules of golf.

The Tour schedules consist of one day events.

Each event will have an entry fee of approx £50.00 - £75.00 TBC.

Players accumulate Order of Merit points based on their finish in each event.

These points will be used as a method of qualifying for special events if needed, and most importantly, the Championship finals.

When playing in any Tour event, members are expected to follow the AMATOUR rules and regulations.

The top finishers in each event, receive non-cash prizes. Prize awards vary from event to event based on player participation.
